Odd Shots Monday

This concrete structure controls the over flow of one of our local lakes. There is a park on this lake but not much else. The odd coloring of the concrete wall is an attempt to curb gang graffiti. (??) As a rule of thumb it is thought that gangs won't paint over their own colors. This and several back road overpasses were painted like this by the juveniles being housed at the Juvenile Detention Center. Some of the overpasses ended up with graffiti any way, placed there by "gangless hoodlums."

Odd shots is hosted by Katney's Kaboodle.

Curb graffiti? HAHA! Looks like a great background for some black spray painted words/drawings! lol Great odd shot tho. I guess I better go get mine up. . .

It's an interesting idea. You will have to photograph it again to see if it's worked.

Very decorative. So it seems that "gangless hoodlums" are worse than gang members. Hmmm.
I think Pauli's right about black paint!

It's certainly a odd shot.. what I liked was ""gangless hoodlums" it sounds a very sad thing.. :O)
I had a Irish friend many years ago, called John Muldoon... he was a scarryman if you did not know him.. very big with a booming voice.. he would call me a 'blagard' and other such names in fun.. one day I came across the word 'Hoodlum' and realised it was very nerly 'Muldoon' spelt backwards.. I told my friend 'hoodlum' came about because a nasty irish family caused that much bother in New York, that a local reporter made up the word but put an 'H' at the end instead of 'N'.... I called him John Hoodlum after that until the day he died.. He did find it funny .. It was nice to be reminded of him.. thank you.

Definitely an odd shot. I thought there was a blanket or something draped over the wall.

Interesting concept even if it doesn't work! I've never heard it before. Great picture!

Well, even if it doesn't keep the hoodlums away, it certainly looks interesting.

Odd and interesting shot, Sharon. Hope it works in the long run. It's colorful and more aesthetic in the right places than bland grey concrete.

Even a bit of grafitti would not show so much on that busy background, and it certainly looks better han just a splotch of whatever color patched over a bit of grafitti.

Hmmm, looks like it is not doing its job of curbing the graffiti.

I didn't realize it was graffiti until I read your post. Looks cool.

Gray concrete is so dull, this is so lively. Still it is "odd" when you first look at it.

That's rather bizarre, but I think I like it. As long as graffiti isn't vulgar, I often find it pretty.

I think it is interesting that the painting doesn't seem to work either. Anyway, maybe they should sponsor the most creative or something like that and award small prizes.

It is a problem around the world.
