Sky Watch Friday

These pictures were taken last week outside a little grocery store on the west side of town. We had stopped to pick up a few things for dinner at a friends house. It had been threatening to rain and all around us it was dark and cloudy. We got out of the truck and there this was while behind us it was all gray and dark. I thought it was beautiful. There was lightening in this cloud and I tried several times to catch it but never did.

Sky Watch Friday is hosted by Tom at Wiggers World.

And you have a Kodak Easy Share? I don't think I can get such great pictures like that on mine.

The best way to catch lightening is to mount the camera on a tripod and use time-exposure - yes it can be very difficult.

I have had no luck with the lightening in cloud photos. I have given up (so I say but just watch next time it happens). Perhaps we need to sit in one spot for a year or so with the proper equipment (whatever that is) all set up and ready to go!

I think this is just a grand photo! Very threatening yet beautiful.

I have been told that the lightning you were wondering about is sheet lightning.
