Congratulations Laura!

This is my niece, Laura, in Kansas. She recently got her learners permit and is SOOOOOO excited! Her mom is SOOOOOOO scared! Yesterday her mom and dad got her this car and now she is even more excited! Laura sent this picture so I could see the car and share it with my friends. I think she is such a cute girl, but she is my niece! The car is great!
Congratulations on your first car Laura!

Well i had to comment here on this one, she is a cute girl and wow what a nice car. My son just told me that his daughter who is 15 just sent him a photo of a convertible mustang that she wants him to buy for her.
That is so scary to think they are going to be on the road. Actually its scary for me to think i have a granddaughter that age LOL

This is the perfect way to go. When our daughters turned 15 and got their learners permit we bought them a car. For one year they drove us everywhere we went as a family. They learned the car and all the controls while we were in there with them. Our oldest has been driving over 15 years and has never had a wreck. Our youngest has been driving right at 10 years and so far no wreck for her either. People say teens do not need to drive. Teens need to learn how to drive before they are handed keys and sent out on their own. Practice makes perfect. I am proud of Laura's parents for making such a wise move. Good luck Laura....practice all you can and please, be careeful.

I wish her well with her driving... and of course her life.

I think Andrea has the right approach - otherwise it is really scary.

A small thought - how do you reconcile another car in a family during this oil (gas) crisis?

I just came from looking at all the great photos of 'things that open and close' at "Picture This". I love the one of books that you posted and the wonderful words.

Oh how wonderful for Laura! She is so cute. Oh to have a perfect figure like that again. hehe
I hope she'll drive safe especially for her Mom's sake.

What a lucky girl to have her own car. None of my children had their own car until they graduated high school.

They got their learners permit and was allowed to use my car a few times a week (in by 10:00 pm) and take the car out once during the weekend (in by 12:00). When they were more mature and were experienced, I helped them buy their first car after they were 18 years old.

Come on by my blog, I have something for you.

So many nice comments about Laura, wow!
Her mom and dad are doing fine, just some more gray hair! ;)
The car is a 1994 Ford Taurus, in
case anyone is interested......
Her parents also believe in having
her practice as much as possible
before turning her loose in a car.
That is at least 2 years away...
She is doing very well with her driving and continues to improve...
